Sony removes game designed to give players an easy Platinum Trophy

Sony has removed ????? 1000 Top Rated, a game that awards players with a Platinum Trophy for just 20 mins of gameplay.

The game, dubbed “????? 1000 Top Rated”, cost just $0.98 and involved solving puzzles by sliding tiles around. Its trailer mentioned the fact that one could earn a coveted Platinum Trophy in under 20 minutes. Generally such trophies required completing all the other trophies for a given game or some other feat of digital endurance, involving 100s of playing hours and in many cases considerable skill.

The game then, appeared to be an effort to allow players to buy the virtual prestige of holding a Platinum Trophy without having to put in the effort. Further, the game’s title was an attempt to confuse users browsing the Playstation Store: it was intended to be misread as a review consensus, which should in fact appear near the title. The developer has been told he will be allowed to republish the game if the title is changed and all references to trophies are removed from the marketing material.
