Apple's Environmental Responsibility Report for 2016 reveals the company's intention to source 100 percent of its materials from recycled Apple products.

Apple to stop mining and start recycling

Apple intends to source 100 percent of the materials used in the manufacturing of its devices from recycled materials as opposed to mining new materials, as revealed in the company’s Environmental Responsibility Report covering the 2016 fiscal year.

The company has already begun developing the resources needed to achieve a 100 percent rating and invented a robot named Liam capable of quickly dissembling an iPhone 6 and sorting its components for recycling.
