Twitter launches Twitter Lite

Twitter has just launched Twitter Lite, a new data-optimised version of the social network’s key features designed to save users money on data costs and encourage use in emerging markets.

As revealed in a blog on the company’s website, Twitter Lite is browser-based, loads quickly on slower connections and is able to maintain connectivity even on unreliable mobile networks.

Twitter Lite users can access many of Twitter’s key features including timelines, Tweets, Direct Messages, profiles, trends and more.
