On the 15th of January 2009 an Airbus A320 aircraft took off from LaGuardian in New York. Minutes into the flight the engines were compromised by a flock of birds and it was time for a decision - try to get back the airport or attempt something more drastic. And that was when Captain Chesley Sullenberger decided on a forced water landing, saving all 155 people on board.
It's an amazing story and 'Sully' was rightly dubbed a hero in the aftermath. Now a film starring Tom Hanks and directed by Clint Eastwood is going to delve into another side of the story.
Sully is based on the autobiographical book Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters which is about the events of that fateful day and what came after, as well as examining other important life lessons and themes of duty, service and more. Quite how that's going to work in the film we don't yet know, it seems to be setting itself up as something like Denzel Washington's Flight from this trailer.
Also starring Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney and Anna Gunn, Sully is in cinemas in Ireland in December, 2016.
