Android N will support pressure-sensitive displays
This means that smartphones running Android N will be able to use screen tech somewhat like 3D Touch on Apple’s handsets. You’ll be able to press down harder on Android apps and access certain app shortcuts instead of having to load up the app itself.
Google says that Android N will allow manufacturers to "define shortcuts which users can expose in the launcher to help them perform actions quicker." Examples of this functionality include being able to quickly send a message to select contacts or get directions home with a mapping app.
