VIDEO Here's what you actually do in No Man's Sky
But, let's be honest, it still isn't entirely clear what players are expected to do when they dive into this utterly unique and terrifically huge experience. Irish fella Sean Murray is the director of the game and he's here presenting a proper long chunk of gameplay which tries to answer that question - what the heck are we doing?
Here it is.
It's great to get a better idea of the overall lore of the game and the universe that's being presented, especially as early previews suggested there would be little to no story content. Learning about new races gives players a reason to explore, and it's expected to tie into the wider fiction which will draw you to the centre of the universe as the end goal of the entire game. Crafting, trading and exploring are all going to be a huge part of the game when it releases.
The word ambitious doesn't even cover what No Man's Sky is trying to do and we're still a little wary that Hello Games may reach too far in trying to push the boundaries of a procedurally generated universe but it's certain to be a totally unique experience.
