VIDEO: Samsung Galaxy S7 gets smashed in durability tests

Those purchasing the Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge will be pleased to see that it has an IP68 rating. But just how waterproof and durable are they? Warranty service SquareTrade put them to the test.

VIDEO: Samsung Galaxy S7 gets smashed in durability tests

Both phones were dunked in water to test out their IP68 ratings. This is supposed to certify that they can survive being in 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes. Both handsets do just that in the test, though they are left with some audio distortion after the ordeal.

The video also showcases the phones being tossed around inside a container, dropped onto a pavement, and bent under pressure. They fare less well in these tests, but give you an idea of how they’ll fare in your typical day-to-day life. We wouldn’t advise putting the bend resistance to the test!
