DIY Tips: Re-grout bathroom tiling

This is one of those DIY projects that requires patience more than any firm skills. If you can’t get that grout to whiten up, replace it and see your tiles pop back to brilliance.

DIY Tips: Re-grout bathroom tiling

WHAT YOU NEED:

* Grout rake (a couple of Euro from any hardware shop)

* Vacuum with hose (ensure bath is clean and dry when using)

* Grout

* Grout spreader or float

* Grout finisher (to smooth)

* Sponge and soft dry cloth

INSTRUCTIONS:

1 Remove the old grout by running the grout remover firmly along the lines without scoring the tile

2 Clean out all old grout and vacuum to get any lingering dust.

3 Using a spreader press new grout into the lines working in all directions.

4 Wet the sponge after the first metre of work, and pass it over the tile to take up excess grout.

5 Use the grout finisher (in place of the traditional wet finger) to smooth your grout lines.

6 Allow grout to set.
