Web Watch
This is an Austin-based gallery/studio and print publishing workshop, with the focus on contemporary art from young-looking artists, if the photos are up to date. They also offer archival quality print editions. It gives you little bios of the artists featured, like Amanda, who is “inspired by religious and literary symbolism, art history, superstition... She works to create narratives that are at once familiar and mysterious.” So there.

2. Unhappy Hipsters: This website takes lovely pictures of uber-cool “concept” homes, and basically mocks the hell out of them. We see good-looking blondes reclining on uncomfortable futuristic furniture complete with witty captions. One of my favourites is a man staring out of his giant living room wall, glass everywhere, onto a stunning vista. “If the stench of his wind was regrettable and intoxicating, it was nothing compared to the realisation that he couldn’t open any of the windows.”

3. Make: This is an online option for readers of Make magazine. It’s for gadget junkies, really. If reusing or reinventing outdated technology gets your engine roaring, this is the site for you. There’s a blog, videos and podcasts, and even a Maker Shed Store to buy stuff. Projects on there include a stair navigating skateboard and a computer desk made from a cable reel used by big telecom companies. Cool.
