Dad's world: Launching in head first

A woman emailed me the other day. “I see from your blog that you’ve been a stay-at-home dad for the past 13 years. I wonder if you have any tips for my husband who has just lost his job and is finding it really hard being stuck at home all day with three young children. He really misses his work.”

I launched in head first as is my wont when I am speaking about things close to my heart, like family.

So, I told her I chose to give up work as a full-time lecturer in Japanese the second my wife got pregnant on our first child, and I regretted it every Friday morning when I opened the jobs section of the local newspaper.
