Closing date approaching for offers on 80ac Cork farm by the sea
The property is in the townland of Finure, about 4km south of Whitegate and a 20-minute drive from Midleton.
Located on the coast just to the east of Cork Harbour and right next to the picturesque fishing village of Gyleen, an 80-acre farm is currently under offer, with final offers not being accepted after close of business on Friday, October 23.
The property is in the townland of Finure, about 4km south of Whitegate and a 20-minute drive from Midleton. It features mainly top-class land in tillage, as selling agent Jerh O’Sullivan of CCM’s Midleton office explains:
“The land is running right down to the coast, and there are about 20 acres of it which is coastal land. About half of that is workable with the tractor and the rest is pure grazing land. The bulk of the land, then, is in tillage and it’s top-quality land,” says Mr O'Sullivan.
There is a farmyard with a number of outbuildings on it (no house) and these are in a mainly derelict condition, but their presence would make it a straightforward proposition to replace them for the next owner.
“The yard is in a poor state,” says Mr O'Sullivan. “It was a former dairying operation.”
There are entitlements coming with the farm, details of which can be obtained from the selling agents.

Interest has been from local sources, as well as from farther afield. The opportunity to acquire a substantial quantity of quality acreage is very attractive to a number of progressive farmers in the immediate area. Equally, there is outside interest too.
“Of the four people who are currently bidding on the property, two of them are from outside the area [with one from outside Munster] and the other two are locally-based,” says Mr O'Sullivan.
The fields are well divided with mature hedgerow boundaries, while the farmyard has water, electricity and cattle handling facilities. There is also very good road frontage, with multiple access points to the holding from the public road. The advertised price guide of €1m (€12,500/acre) however, has already been breached:
“The bidding has broken the million-euro mark already and there is still very good interest in it,” says Mr O'Sullivan.
