The demand for land continues to grow and strengthen throughout the country, with particular emphasis on Munster and Leinster. In the case of Cork, however, there is a premium on lands that come up for sale within striking distance of Cork City.

DNG Galvin Auctioneers in Bandon is offering a substantial holding of 55 acres that is within 17km of Cork City. As such, the demand is strong and coming from a number of sources.

The property is at Fahanalooscane, near the village of Ballinhassig. It has excellent access, with the public road effectively dividing it in two — six acres on one side of the road and 49 acres on the other.

“On the 49 acres, you have a shed and a stream,” says selling agent Majella Galvin. “There has been very strong interest in it so far… very strong local interest but also very strong interest from Cork City… some of that is interest from investors and/or people looking at using it as a hobby farm.”

The agents would not rule out selling the farm in two separate lots and neither are they ruling out the possibility of a public auction.

With Ballinhassig and the N71 2km to the north, Cork Airport 7km northeast, and Carrigaline 9km to the east, it’s no surprise the strong price guide is €25,000/acre.
