38-acre Clare holding cuts a tempting presence on Munster market
The hay barn and some of the land on the farm in Derrybrick, Co Clare
Ennis-based auctioneers Arthur & Lees are selling by online auction a 38-acre holding in South Clare in conjunction with the iamsold.ie online auction platform.
The sale will take place on Thursday, December 11, and the lands are described by the agents as consisting predominantly of “excellent grazing lands and meadow”. The lands are laid out in three divisions, with the boundaries clearly defined.
The property is in the townland of Derrybrick, 2km south of the N68 (Ennis-Kilrush road), 30km from Ennis and 16km from Kilrush.
“For the most part, this is good-quality land,” says Patrick Donvey of iamsold.ie. “The owner is an Irish national based in the US. His family have been using the property and he’s now selling it on.
“It has been carefully maintained over many years. There’s a hay barn on the property and a laneway running through the land. It’s a nice attractive parcel and ideally suited to a local farmer seeking to extend their holding or indeed, to a young farmer trying to get on the land property ladder.”
With a price guide of €270,000 (€7,100/acre), it cuts a tempting presence that should attract plenty of bids on the day. Even though Clare has had a less dynamic land market than in the other counties of Munster in recent years, the burgeoning agri-land market is beginning to have a spreading effect from neighbouring counties.
“We’re hoping that it will be a busy one,” says Mr Donvey. “We’ve certainly had a good number of enquiries already.
