88-acre farm near Adare guiding €17,000/acre
The derelict house on the farm near Adare, Co Limerick.
Coming up for auction on Thursday, November 27, with Adare-based auctioneer John Giltinane, an 88-acre farm is already garnering interest. The sale will take place at 3pm at the Dunraven Arms Hotel in the chic town of Adare, and is presented in lots.
The property has been in tillage in the past, signalling its quality as a grassland holding in a part of the world dominated by dairy farming.
It is 1.5km south of the village of Croagh, 8km from Adare and 7km from Rathkeale. With its proximity to the N21, and a generous degree of road frontage, it’s a very accessible farm.

“We do have interest in it but time will tell whether or not that will turn into active bids on the floor,” says selling agent Mr Giltinane.
“It’s a very good farm, suitable for any kind of farming. Most of it was in tillage at one stage but it’s all in grassland now.”
- Lot 1 is the entire 88-acre holding with a derelict dwelling and outbuildings;
- Lot 2 is 28.5 acres;
- Lot 3 is 49 acres;
- Lot 4 is 10.5 acres.
“We’ve a guide price of €1,500,000 (€17,000/acre) on it,” Mr Giltinan says.
The haybarn and lean-to are in good condition, he adds, while the others are in poor condition. The derelict home will be an attraction in itself.
