Twizzle sparkles to be named Supreme Champion at the National Dairy Show

The National Dairy Show saw a record turnout, reaffirming its place as one of the premier dairy events in Ireland

Andrea Rafferty with Hallow Octain Twizzle following a win in the 5 Year Old Cow in Milk class.

The 43rd edition of the AXA National Dairy Show saw Hallow Octain Twizzle crowned Supreme Champion.

This cow from Hallow Holsteins Ltd also claimed the Best Exhibitor Bred Champion & Best Udder of the Show.

“The AXA National Dairy Show once again delivers the stage for Ireland’s dairy breeders to demonstrate excellence in animal breeding, management and innovation,” said Denis Kiely, Show Director.

Evergreen Chief Lustre, exhibited by Steve McLoughlin with Liam and Sandra Murphy, was Intermediate Champion. The Jersey Champion was Rathard Kasey (exhibited by the Hynes family). Reserve Champion was Jones Ferdinand Cupid, exhibited by Jones Cattle Ltd.

The Dairy Show saw a record turnout, reaffirming its place as one of the premier dairy events in Ireland, showcasing the highest standards of breeding, management, and exhibition in dairy farming and continues to serve as a pivotal platform for breeders and enthusiasts alike.

On Day One, the Irish Holstein Friesian Association’s Young Members’ Association (YMA) held their Showmanship League Finals, judged by Andrea Rafferty.

· Class B (13–16): 1st Zoe Greenan, 2nd Kate Jones, 3rd Alex Windrum

Innovation Awards & Industry Recognition 

A key side-event at the Show was the AXA National Dairy Innovation Awards. This year’s overall winner was EASYFIX, for its ePulse Aeration System. The system, which uses electro-photo-magnetic induction to stimulate microbial activity in slurry, was recognised for its potential to transform slurry management on dairy farms.
