National Fertiliser Database opens for 2025

Agriculture minister Martin Heydon commended the industry for its 'active engagement' with the database.

The facility for declaring closing stocks of fertiliser on the National Fertiliser Database for 2025 has now opened online.

Farmers and other fertiliser users and operators can now declare the closing stock of fertiliser held on their farms and premises. Farms and premises that have no stock on hand must also make this declaration.

Agriculture minister Martin Heydon commended the industry for its "active engagement" with the database.

"There are now just over 127,000 professional fertiliser end users and 359 fertiliser economic operators registered on the National Fertiliser Database, and the system has captured more than half a million transactions in the last year.

"As in previous years, I strongly encourage fertiliser economic operators and fertiliser end users to log on to myagfood.ie and complete their closing stock return," he said.

Highlighting the importance of accurately declaring fertiliser closing stock, the minister added: “The final date for submission of closing stock of fertiliser on farms and premises is Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Declaration of closing stock is a straightforward process whereby farmers, or their agents, can log on to myagfood.ie.

"In cases where there are no stocks of fertiliser on hand, it is simply a matter of ticking a box to declare a 'nil stock return'. Where there is fertiliser present, the declaration should include the type of fertiliser and the quantities being held.”
