Last featured in the edition of August 7 last, a 78.5-acre farm at Mullinahone, Co Tipperary, was successfully sold at auction on September 5 at the Clubhouse Hotel in Kilkenny.
Kilkenny-based auctioneer Pat Gannon wielded the gavel for this a much-anticipated sale, featuring a large quantity of excellent land, including a well-maintained Georgian property.

The house itself (Glenville) was a strong attraction in its own right. The period property was in good condition, albeit in need of some modernisation and had a number of attractive original Georgian features.
The farm was offered in lots: Lot 1 was the entire holding; Lot 2 was a 41.5-acre holding including residence and outbuildings; Lot 3 consisted of 37 acres of land.
The pre-auction guide for the overall property was in the region of €1,500,000.
“We had a full house at the public auction,” says Pat. “There was an intense level of interest in the auction beforehand.”
The holding sold in lots on the day. The first lot was the 41.5-acre holding that included the residence and its collection of stone outbuildings. It sold for €950,000. The second lot of 37 acres of land achieved €775,000. With a total of €1,725,000, the property sale exceeded expectations. In both cases, the lots were sold to local purchasers, the auctioneers said.
