Traditional farm buildings scheme reopens

The scheme funds the conservation and preservation of traditional farm buildings and structures such as historic yard surfaces, gates, and gate pillars as part of the working farm.

A budget of €1.5m has been allocated for the 2025 Traditional Farm Buildings Scheme, which received a prestigious Europa Nostra heritage award last year and is now open for applications.

Agriculture, Food and Marine Minister Martin Heydon said the move ensures that farmers can continue to renovate and repurpose traditional farm buildings, thereby preserving our history for future generations.
