IFA president Francie Gorman: 'Instead of trying to shut down farming, there is an acknowledgement that we have a big part to play in this economy.'

The policy programme for the new government taking over today signals that farming and food production will travel on a different path for the next five years, Irish Farmers' Association president Francie Gorman told the 70th AGM of the association.

Addressing delegates in the Farm Centre on Wednesday, Mr Gorman said 2025 provides the opportunity for farm policy to reset at national and European level.
