EU’s new sustainability label faces backlash for undermining natural fibres

A new European Union label aimed at driving sustainability in the clothing industry has sparked controversy, with critics warning it may unintentionally promote synthetic materials over natural fibres like wool. 

The Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) framework seeks to rate apparel based on environmental impact. But its methodology, described as "flawed" by experts, has drawn ire from natural fibre advocates.
