New Agriculture Commissioner vows to support young farmers
EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Christophe Hansen: 'For farming to meet future challenges it needs future generations to undertake the custodianship of the land by providing them with fulfilment and dignity.'
Generational renewal and support for young farmers are issues close to the heart of the new European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food, Christophe Hansen, who will address the 75th annual meeting of the Irish Farmers Association (IFA) to be held over two days in Dublin next week.
The 42-year-old commissioner has already assured the European Parliament that the central tenet of his approach to agricultural policy will be to ensure that farming will be viable and attractive for the decades ahead.
