An increase to the flat-rate unregistered Vat scheme, an opportunity to have their land rezoned to avoid residential zoned land tax, and the addition of a six-year “active farmer test” for agricultural inheritance reliefs were among the big changes for farming in Tuesday’s budget.

Finance Minister Jack Chambers said he recognised the “vital importance” of agriculture to the Irish economy.
