Over the past month, beef processors have gradually - but steadily - reduced the cost of their input, writes Martin Ryan.

"Steady, but tending towards softening", would be a fairly apt description of the trade at the factories for beef animals for this week.

Over the past month, the processors have gradually - but steadily - reduced the cost of their input with particular emphasis on cutting the price they paid the producers for steers and heifers.
