Irish farmers have learned just how powerful the European Parliament's agricultural committee can be

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was re-elected to a new term.

The new European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee got off to a fiery start, not unexpected due to its volatile cocktail of 49 new MEP members.

Farmers will hope it settles down and makes good decisions between now and 2029. They rely on the committee to deal with and vote on EU legislative proposals, and to negotiate with member states.
