Hopes rise that recent price drops have bottomed out

Overall demand for beef on the markets continues to be very strong.

The factory prices stabilised this week, raising hope among producers that the declining trend of recent weeks has finally bottomed out.

The going rate has steadied at 500 cents/kg base for the steers and 505-510 cents/kg for heifers in general with up to 5 cents/kg more being achieved in some regions of the country and in particular at individual factories under pressure to get sufficient stock.
