A 64-acre block of it is new to the market with Killarney-based auctioneer Ken O’Sullivan and is located about 15km northwest of Killarney town centre on the R563, just 2km short of Milltown, with Killorglin 9km away.
“This is all very good ground, with the exception of about six acres down at the very lowest point of the property… but even with that, it’s probably only a matter of improving it and using it again," Mr O'Sullivan said.
"The land around it is all very good and, conversely, the better the ground, the faster it can disimprove with lack of use.”
There are very fine views of the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks from the land, opening up possibilities for building a home on the site for some potential purchasers.
“The rest of the ground is superb and it’s southeast-facing land,” said Mr O'Sullivan. “Part of the farm was under potatoes and maize for the last four years or so — an indicator of how good the land is. It’s a former dairy farm.
“In our part of the world here, it’s not often that a farm of this size and quality comes on the market — maybe two or three times a year.”
The property is divided into two lots and there are offers already on both lots, as well as on the overall holding. The price expectation is in the region of €18-€19,000/acre.
