Brace of Wexford farms go under the hammer next week

New Ross-based P N O’Gorman Auctioneers is due to auction two farms next week on February 28 and 29 at the Horse & Hound Inn, Ballinaboola, County Wexford.
The first property to go under the hammer at 2:30pm on Wednesday next is a 20.38-acre farm in the townland of Nash, approximately 15km southeast of New Ross. At the moment, it’s in stubble but, according to the selling agent Anne Carton, it would suit a variety of agricultural enterprises.
“It’s an exceptionally fine holding,” says Anne. “It’s excellent quality land in two divisions and it would be suitable for tillage or grazing purposes.”
The second farm comes under the hammer at the same venue 24 hours later. This time, it’s a 32-acre property, just south of the previous farm, in the townland of Cloonagh. This holding is in permanent pasture and should also attract a good deal of attention.
“It’s a well-laid-out quality holding,” says Anne. “And it’s convenient to Dunmain and Gusserane.” Dunmain is well known locally for historic Dunmain House while Gusserane is a small village with a church and primary school.
The price expectation for this piece of grassland in the county known variably as the Shortgrass County or the Thoroughbred County is tempting at €10,000-€12,000 per acre.
The smaller 32-acre property currently under tillage just a short distance away in the townland of Nash is pitched at a higher level, with a guide of between €14,000 and €16,000 per acre.
