77 approved for Native Tree Area scheme
The planting area may consist of multiple smaller blocks (such as the corners of fields).
Up to last week, 77 approvals had been issued for 80 hectares in the Native Tree Area Scheme (NTAS), which was introduced in September 2023.
According to Agriculture Minister Charlie McConalogue, 201 applications had been received, and his Department was not aware of any delays in the processing of applications, with an average turnaround time of four to five weeks.
