Early Easter and Ramadan bring boost for lamb

The quality bonus of 10-20c/kg has pushed lamb prices up to or, in some cases, over €7/kg.

The expectation by lamb producers over recent weeks of a lift in the trade in the offing has been fulfilled, with an increase of up to 20c/kg being quoted by the factories for supplies this week.

Quoted prices for the lamb hoggets have been increasing to the range of 680-695c/kg as the processors show more anxiety to get the numbers in, and overall supplies on farms appear to be low.
