The intake for last week was up by 1,300 head on the same week last year.

The trade for beef animals at the factories continues to hold firm for this week, but the vibes coming from the plants are that the factory bosses have applied the handbrake to the upward movement in the prices.

There are some variations in the prices being paid. Trade in the northwest is particularly strong and leading the field by up to 10c/kg ahead of the southern-based processing plants.
