Spring-calving dairy farmers can be particularly vulnerable as the bills continue to come in months before the milk cheques.

A third of Irish farmers say they don't know if they have enough cash on hand to meet their financial liabilities and obligations over the next six months, a comprehensive industry survey has found.

But for many, according to Ifac’s Irish Farm Report 2024, the real problem is that a lack of budgeting, or any financial forecasting makes it impossible to plan ahead.
