Currently, there are a number of weather warnings for low temperature and ice in place for much of the country, with Met Éireann warning of animal welfare issues and difficult travelling conditions.

Farmers are urged to be aware of the risks to their animals during the current cold weather.

They are being advised to take extra care of their stock while low temperatures continue.
