53-acre Limerick land makes 'satisfactory' €7k/acre at auction

The 53-acre farm sold at auction at Pallaskenry, Co Limerick.

The sale of Munster land at auction for a figure less than €10,000 per acre is not ordinarily worthy of note in the current climate. However, a sale that took place on Monday of this week at GVM’s offices in central Limerick did have some extenuating circumstances in its history.

For a start, access to the property was via a long right of way, with no road frontage. In addition, a certain amount of the lands were in a SAC (Special Area of Conservation), thus implying limits on its possible usage.
