Early signs of a slight hardening of the beef prices at the factories are emerging in trading this week, but the intake continues on a seasonal high, which is exercising a controlling force on upward movement in returns.

Against a background of a differential close to €150/head between Irish and UK prices for the prime beef animals, producers are adamant that the processors should be paying more for stock.
