The Government has been accused by Macra of taking a "binary view" on generational renewal.

Macra president Elaine Houlihan said that with one-third of farmers over the age of 65, "it is hard to understand how the Government can turn a blind eye to the ageing profile of our farmers", while expecting "the changes that we all know are required".
