Beef producers push back against cuts to prices

Beef intake for last week hit a six-month high.

Beef finishers had been bracing themselves this week to resist pressure from the processors for a cut in the prices as rumours abound within the trade.

Holding on to a base of 465c/kg for steers and 470c/kg for heifers was at the core of beef farmers' approach to the processors this week. The intake for last week hit a six-month high.
