Only 1,609 (0.5%) of the 322,000 submissions came from Ireland, in the public consultation on modernising and simplifying the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan welcomed the high level of participation from citizens across Europe, of whom 7.18% said they were involved in farming, with 92.82% saying they were not involved in farming.
