I am not boasting, or anything like that, but as we have just passed the third June Sunday, I am reminded of the magnificent achievement of my farmer ancestor, Johnny Woods from the townland of Tattymacall, near Lisbellaw in Co Fermanagh.

I am not boasting, or anything like that, but as we have just passed the third June Sunday, I am reminded of the magnificent achievement of my farmer ancestor, Johnny Woods from the townland of Tattymacall, near Lisbellaw in Co Fermanagh.

Johnny Woods, I am proud to state, became the world’s first hang-glider on the third Sunday of June, 1861.
