Beef shortage warning as world’s largest exporter bans slaughter cattle sales
Significant disruption of the global beef market may result from the ban on cattle sales for slaughter in India, the world’s largest exporter of bovine meat.
The country’s conservative Hindu leaders have also banned slaughter of traditional cows in a number of states, and the government is putting pressure on the beef industry, which is largely based on buffalo meat.
