Plans to store more carbon in the soil, launched at the 2015 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) in Paris, have been shot down by soil scientists.

The UNFCC’s 4p1000 goal was proposed, to increase soil carbon storage by 0.4% per year, in order to offset rises in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations.
