Kieran Coughlan: How Revenue collected €47.95bn from us in 2016

The Revenue Commissioners have just published their annual report. The tax collected for 2016 was a record €47.95bn, with all major taxes, including Vat, corporation tax, and income tax, recording significant growth.

Revenue have become particularly adept at securing compliance, with 99%, 98% and 87% of large, medium and small cases meeting their obligations on time.
