Soon after Annette Crowley joined Ballinora ICA 23 years ago, guild members set off for An Grianán, where most of them opted to do a dancing programme.

Annette — whose mum had been involved with ICA in the Coachford area — decided instead to make flowers out of bread, a process that involved using a preservative available only from the teacher, wood adhesive and a Kenwood Chef mixer.
