The British food and drink industry has warned the government in Westminster to protect its Irish trading partners in Brexit negotiations.

Food and drink employers representing 13.5% of the UK workforce have called on Prime Minister Theresa May’s government to secure early agreement on tariff-free trade with Ireland.

“Complete interdependence of the UK and Ireland is essential to ensuring our food security and to feeding both countries,” signatories from 35 representative bodies in the British food and drink supply chain have told their government in an open letter.
