Tried and tested technology for calf rearers

Technology for calf rearing which has been tried and tested at Teagasc Grange is described in the current edition of the Teagasc Today’s Farm magazine, by Pearse Kelly, David Kenny, and Bernadette Earley, of the animal and grassland research staff at Grange.

They say large numbers of calves are currently moving from spring-calving dairy herds to beef farms throughout the country, and how these calves are treated on arrival and in the days and weeks that follow has a huge bearing on their lifetime performance.

Technologies that can help beef and dairy farmers reduce labour requirements and keep calves healthy and meeting performance targets are a welcome addition to any farm.
