Department issues new forestry felling guide

A Department of Agriculture felling guidance tool to help maximise returns from forestry was launched yesterday by minister of state Andrew Doyle.

Mr Doyle said the importance of deciding when to clear fell and its impact on returns should not be underestimated.

The new tool will assist forest owners in making a more informed decision on clear-felling. It clearly shows that rotation length has a very significant impact on the return a grower will get from his or her crop.
