IFA slams pre-Christmas discounting of potatoes

Retailer discounting of potatoes in the run-up to Christmas is damaging an already fragile market, IFA president Joe Healy has warned.

Mr Healy says the IFA will hold retailers directly responsible for any negative consequences for potato growers that may arise from these practices.

“Christmas should be a time when potato growers benefit from the seasonal demand for potatoes,” said Mr Healy.
