Pressure on beef prices at the factories tightened slightly, after a week-end change in the weather left no doubt that autumn has arrived on farms.

After heavy rain in many areas, the urge to reduce stocking levels could become a priority sooner than expected.

Beef processors have gotten tougher on prices this week, and are trying to stick firmly to a base of 380 cents/kg for steers, with a hint of a ‘take it or leave it’ approach adopted by some agents, when farmers made a stand for a base of up to 385 cents/kg.
