Department of Agriculture warns of rural fire

Land owners, rural dwellers and other land users have been urged to raise vigilance regarding fire during the coming months.

The Department of Agriculture has reminded land owners that it is illegal to burn growing vegetation on uncultivated land between March 1 and August 31.

“Wildfires in recent years destroyed or damaged property, farmland, and forests,” a department official stated.
