Veterinary column: Fatal cow C-section infections were caused by resistant bacteria

I recently attended a veterinary talk where a colleague highlighted a particularly challenging case resulting in the loss of several dairy cows after Caesarean section.

The investigating vet carried out a number of tests, including swabs from the C-section wounds.

The results from the culture and sensitivity testing revealed a strain of bacteria that was resistant to all antibiotics.
