Winter storms have caused significant crop losses, according to Teagasc advisers.

An estimated 500 hectares has been lost from salt burn along the south coast, while many fields have bare patches as a result of water-logging and reduced plant counts, compared to 2015.

Almost no field work has been carried out since November; growers were advised to plan work to make best use of dry spells.
